Where are you from?
M: I’m from NEW YORK, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there’s nothing you can’t do!!! My family is Jamaican, but my sisters and I were born here. I moved to Philly last year, but will rep NYC till the day I die. I started a small entertainment company, BrownFace LLC, while working at my last employer and am now concentrating on it full-time.
When did you go natural?
M: Wow. I actually did a video on this (click HERE.) I wanted to know what MY hair actually looked like. My mom started relaxing my hair at 8, so that was 20 plus years of not really knowing me. I had long hair and I think I really hid behind hit.
Once I did the big chop, I had no other choice but to show who I really was. It was such a freeing experience.
I was really insecure in my 20s and did not want to enter my 30s the same way. Once I went natural, I shed the insecurities and alot of things that I felt were holding me back. I must add that my husband was TRULY supportive. He actually prefers me natural. We started our natural journey the same month (he was always natural…lol, but starting locking when I went natural).
I miss being relaxed sometimes, simply because I miss the ‘bounce’ of my relaxed hair and I miss my dubies [Dominican hair wrap]…lol BUT, I prefer being natural. I love the freedom, I love not spending almost $100 every six weeks, I love doing and learning about my own hair. Being natural is the only thing that can support my eclectic style and I love that the world is seeing the REAL ME! Love it or leave it, boo!
What style do you love to rock?
M: It depends. In the summer I love my fros, frohawks and updos.

I am a serious twist queen, I can rock twists hundreds of ways…lol Twists are my staple in the colder months.
What do you use in your hair?
M: What don’t I use in my hair…lol I am a serious product junkie, but what really works for my hair texture are brands such as Oyin, Qhemet Biologics, Aubrey Organics and Karen’s Body Beautiful. I have to give a special shout out to a new found, inexpensive product, Smooth ‘n’ Shine Curl Activator. It is so moisturizing. I also can’t live without organic coconut oil and Boundless Tresses for my scalp. Boundless Tresses has sulfur in it and my hair loves sulfur and glycerin! I want to start delving into henna in the near future.
