The Flickr album “Do you have an afro?”, which features UK men and women with huge fros posing against a white backdrop, has been getting MAJOR buzz on the Web. I caught up with the man behind the project, UK photographer Errol, to learn about what inspired him and to get a closer look at some of the amazing photos!
How long have you been a photographer?
E: A few years now still trying to make a living from it :-)
Are you originally from the UK?
E: Yeah I’m originally from sunny Croydon. Been in the UK all my life .
What inspired you to do this album?
E: A few things the classic Ohio Players album covers from the late 70s and 80s along with the Blaxploitation films.
Who are the people in the album?
E: The whole project was really about meeting people that replied to advert on a website, so they are just everyday people. Of course they all have very different backgrounds: actors/actresses, models, singers, etc so expect some of them to be famous in the near future.

I’ve seen links to your album on several blogs. Have you done any exhibitions?
E: I can’t even remember the amount of blogs that have featured my work. It’s been pretty amazing, I’ll have an exhibition in London sometime next year.
What did you like most about this project?
E: Meeting new people. That’s the most exciting thing about London — the diversity and mixture of people is amazing and I don’t think it happens to this extent anywhere else on the planet. It needs to be seen to believed.
