Zakiya’s cut with shaved/tapered edges (response to Sunshine’s cut)

Uncategorized

Peep the message I got from longtime BGLHer Zakiya…

“I saw your post on Sunshine’s hair, and thought it was adorable. I love doing different things to my hair, and the temple taper on a natural feminine hairstyle seemed very unique. It’s a little more flamboyant than a regular taper, and I thought it would look nice with lines on the side (the other side is just a regular taper)

…Well, I took my son to his barber for his biweekly mohawk, and I asked the barber if he thought it would look right, and at first he was like o_O why do you wanna do that?! But I’ll do it, lol. When he was done, he said, “Oh, yea that’s kinda hot.”"

I love it ! I don’t think that I would have the guts to do this style, but it leaves me wonderful, “What if?” … so good job ! :)

He’s right. It’s kinda HOT! I love it. Your hair, in general, is pretty darn fierce. Work it!

I’ve been wanting to do this for a minute. This is straight HOTNESS.

Yay! What a wonderful birthday-eve surprise!
    Thanks you guys ^_^
Also, let me say…that I’ve gotten plenty of crosseyed looks because of this hairdo…but girls care walking around with green and blue tracks, and its fine? Rihanna (whose style I love, btw) has completely shaved black sides, and a long, sweeping blonde…wrap thingy at her crown, and its chic?
But I like it, and think that Imma keep it for a while. I can do all my regular hairstyles (twists, twist-outs, buns, various updo’s, and my trusty puff), they just have a little added flavor.
    Thanks again, guys!! xoxo

I LOVE it! I especially love that you just went for it with no hesitation. I agree with @Broadbandette too. Your hair is gorgeous in general. The hidden gem in the story is the barber. Who knows how his eyes have been opened…. and maybe his mind too :o)

    NoOoOoOo!
You and Sunshine are so tempting me!
I want heart to create heart and stars! Lol.
In the “emo” hair styling world that style is called “steps”.
One day I’m going to do it. And maybe add some pink hotness too it! :D
    Gorgeous darling, gorgeous!

Ok this style has inspired me so much,I love it! I spent all last year wanting my hair to be shoulder length and now that it’s there I’ve become so bored with it. I think I’m going to try this it’s a way to put some edge back into my look without cutting all my hair off again. Oooh thanks so much! You look fierce girl.
