Natural skin care

So I’ve lately developed an interest in ‘naturalizing’ my skin care regimen. It’s well known which natural products work best on hair but are there natural ingredients that work best for skin??

I know there are many drugstore brands that do a good job keeping skin clear and radiant. But have you come across any natural products that do this?

I know this is a bit off topic, but I figured I’d ask :) And if you have ingredients for various scrubs and what not, please share.

Well, I think we’re all forgetting that acquiring great skin also starts on the inside.. so drink water. Lots of it. Stay away from the artificially sweetened drinks, the sodas, everything. All I drink is water, fruit juices, and tea. Not the bottled tea, but the teabags, I love green tea, and just a little bit of sugar or honey if I can’t take it too strong. It might sound terrifying but your skin will thank you and it’ll be as clear as can be…

Also, I use the bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar mask, mix with equal parts.. It does wonders for me. Feels great, and everything. I DO have Burt’s Bee’s but it made me break out once, and I do have a cocoa butter scrub from Queen Helen but I don’t use it too much, and then there’s that neutrogena clear pore mask that I have, which smells like a complete chemical dump, but I don’t use those anymore.. might just toss ‘em. <3 the bentonite and apple cider. :)

I use the oil cleansing method to clean my face and remove makeup at night. Then I use 1 drop of organic vitamin E oil mixed with 1 drop of organic rosehip oil on my eyes. In the morning, I wash with black soap, tone with witch hazel and then I use 1 squirt of organic aloe vera gel, 1 drop of jojoba oil, 2 drops of organic rosehip oil, and I spray of rosewater just mixed in my hands as an all-day moisturizer.

After my trip to Africa, I picked up a few (cheap!) tricks in skincare. I’ve taken to smearing honey all over my face before using a facial steamer (the attachment for the huetiful hair steamer is on point!). I’ll also occasionally throw in some mint leaves in the boiling water. I do this about once a week, and my always thanks me for it. If you don’t have a steamer, honey still works great without it. For breakouts, lemon does wonders. I simply cut an organic lemon in half, and gently rub onto the affected area.

And if you can stand the smell, if you use a thin layer of *mayonnaise* as a mask — yeah, I know — and rub it off when it dries (about 15 – 20 minutes), it’ll remove the dead skin cells from your face. It just rolls right off in these smelly, horrifyingly fascinating mayo rolls. lol! When you’re done (or can’t stand it any longer), just rinse off. I’ve stopped doing this because frankly the smell is the worst thing I’ve experienced in a while, but my face *was* gloriously smooth afterwards.
