When did you and your husband meet?
M: We met in 2001 in San Diego CA at a party. He said to me that when he first saw me, he told all of his friends he was going to marry me! What a charmer. We were married March 13th 2009 at the Lake Merritt Sail Boat House in beautiful Oakland CA.
How was your big day?!?
M: It was perfect! We thought getting married in March would be a problem because of rain and whatnot, but it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day! Being a vintage fanatic, we decided to have a 1930′s theme wedding. It was so much fun to see everyone decked in their art deco fineries.
I really wanted finger waves to go with the 30′s theme. The salon I had chosen to go to could not do the finger waves and instead tried to talk me into pressing my hair. I was dead set against it, so I left and found a local salon (right down the street from my house) who did an awesome roller set on me. It came out great!
What was your process of deciding how to style your hair?
M: Having only been natural for about two years, I was experimenting with what I could do (I still do, to be honest). I thought fingerwaves would have been cute, but my hair is much to thick and it turned into a frizzy mess. I always had the back up plan of a roller set in my mind just in case things didn’t work out. I just wanted something simple as I had enough things to worry about!
How did your family/husband/guests receive your hair at the wedding?
M: Everyone seems to really like what I had done with my hair that day. My friends and family have always been super supportive of my natural hair. My husband in particular really loved it. He had been trying to get me to go natural since he met me!
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
