@Talicia J: I would send you a ring myself if I could! I read a similar recipe for the coffee scrub, but never thought to use the olive oil under my eyes. I have been using castor oil under my eyes at night, which is great….but I can’t wait to make my caffeine infused olive oil!!

My beauty tip is a facial peel. Crush up 6-8 plain, uncoated aspirin in a small bowl. Add fresh lemon or lime juice to turn the powder into a paste. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Apply to blemishes, areas with dark spots, or all over.

While that is on your face, in a separate bowl combine 1 tbsp of baking soda and approx. 1/4 cu filtered water. Dip a cotton pad into the baking soda mixture. Remove the aspirin paste from your face with the baking soda pads. It will tingle and maybe sting, so do it slowly and add more water if it stings too much.

After everything is rinsed away, your skin will me smooth and glowing!

My advice would be to detangle first with a cheap conditioner and a paddle brush (I used suave naturals) then place your hair in about ten two strand twists. Wash the scalp with the pads of your fingers and the TWISTS STILL IN! I cannot stress this enough; leaving the twists in minimizes tangles significantly AND your hair will still be squeaky clean. After washing, untwist and condition each twist individually(I use Dove intensive therapy conditioner), placing the twist back in after adding the conditioner. Then put on your plastic cap and warm towel and nourish your mane. Once done conditioning, do a final rinse with cold water to seal the cuticle (twists still innn :D). Style, and let your beauty radiate!

Do You want a smooth, bright, tight, glowing, radient complexion that will span the length of your life….Well use FREEZING COLD water after you cleanse your face with a cleansing product, and warm water.

Dip your face into a sink of this freezing cold water, and when you dry your face, you will feel the difference in tightness, and in smoothness. You will have such a glow, people you come into contact with may be blinded. :)

It’s simple but if you put out positive energy that’s what you will receive. If you put your mind to eating the healthiest, exercising to your max and simply being a beacon of great energy you have no reason to no be beautiful.

Drink at least 64 oz. (8 glasses) of water a day and get 7.5 hours of sleep a night (at least on week nights). Water is such a simple thing but does wonders for hair, skin, and health in general. Getting at least 7.5 hours a sleep not only helps appearance, but also helps prevent weight gain! Great advice from my mom and Glamour :)

My BEST possible advice: as far as confidence goes, fake it ’til you make it! There are plenty of people out there who are more than willing to cut you down, even if you’re sporting your flyest look! The key is to ignore them and keep on smiling; the envy behind the comments will soon show itself for what it really is.

Other than water and sleep, a healthy dose of laughter everyday keeps my skin glowing and my hair reaching for the stars. I don’t think we can thrive off just good food and water, even though those are definitely necessities, so is the need to smile. I feel livelier just because I have the ability to do it, and I think that it’s one of the most overlooked beauty secrets. That, and waistbeads…Better than a scale, sexier than a girdle, and keeps you in check on a physical and an energetic level! Don’t believe me? Do some research for yourself.

My advice for all aspects of beauty-skin, hair, inner, outer, etc is to not be afraid to fight for it. Let me make myself clear. I am the daughter of a woman with eight siblings-four of which are women. My father has two sisters. And though these women are all loving, they have all believed the common misconception that the way black women are- their bodies, their skin tone, and especially their hair -makes them inferior. I am a voluptuous 19 year old young woman and puberty was challenging- I was praised for being thin and then crucified for having hips a year later. My aunts would subtly tell me that I needed to lose weight that my breasts were too large, that my hips were too big- even while they stuffed fattening food down their throats and promised to starve it off later. And hair is touchy- ladies don’t wear their hair natural, according to them. I almost believed them- Then I saw that years of too-tight braids and harsh perms had robbed all of them of the thick, curly hair they crucified me for having. They all wear wigs now. When I started to date, my boyfriends were mystified as to why I resented by curves- they certainly loved them. And it bothered me that the first time I heard my natural hair was beautiful was when my Jewish study partner commented on it one day. That was the last straw- I’ve accepted every aspect of my life that was considered a flaw and made it mine. I got the courage to renounce the flat iron and learn about taking care of my natural hair, using sites like this one. I wear my pencil skirts proud over my frame, and let my fro fly in the wind. And I have told my well meaning family that I must do what I need to do to like my appearance and ultimately myself- I know they don’t mean to be harmful, it’s just what they were taught. No one fought for their beauty. I will teach my children to fight for their beauty- because my life has been made better because of it.

The first beauty tip that I was ever told, that continues to ring true every single day, is that beauty starts on the inside. Growing up a darkskinned child, with nappy hair, there was so much pressure on me to conform and to be like everyone else. My grandmother told me that the only type of beauty that anyone should and would see me for is what’s inside. It doesn’t matter if my outside isn’t deemed beautiful, as long as inside of me is beautiful enough for me, then my outside will follow suit. This is the beauty tip that many women, and young women like myself need to follow every single day=]

Every day I look into the mirror and give myself a compliment. It’s not vanity, just a simple reminder that nomatter what, I know how to love myself. On the subject of products, I have always loved Vasaline Intensive Care. The cocoa butter lotion keeps my skin nice year round.. For the hair: shea butter+EVOO+ avocado oil.

My best advice for women who are natural is understanding your hair and its beauty. A lot of women spend time looking to others with the expectation of what their hair should look like. Of course everybody looks for inspiration and help but understanding and accepting your hair for the way it is, is real beauty.

It is really important to love your natural hair the way it naturally grows. Too many women become product junkies and spend way too much money on trying to get a certain “look” or curl pattern. This tip will save you money and time. =]

LOVE YOUR NATURAL HAIR FOR ITS NATURAL BEAUTY! Accept you for you
