I have found that taking care of natural hair is even more expensive than taking care of relaxed hair. The products are crazy expensive but I will pay the money to take care of my hair over something silly like nails any day.
I appreciate this forum to learn about hair and to get ideas from others. I am still learning about my hair and while I long for my sleek, pretty styles, I like the thickness of my hair. I just want it to grow longer.

For some women, going natural is a style and a fad. For others, it is not. I think that the most important thing is that our hair is healthy and beautiful and it represents the person that we want to display. Hair is not an accessory. It is an integral part of who we are. I tired of women treating it as such. I must disagree with India Arie. I am my hair!

I am not sure how to feel about this. I want to be thrilled that so many black women are deciding to go natural but I’m afraid it is merely a trend to most, rather than a lifestyle change. Even more so, I fear the industry has, or will, make natural hair marketable and continue to keep black women in their never ending cycle.

I just had a beautiful baby girl. I decided I want to look like her. She is an exotic looking beauty. I want her to know she is gorgeous the way she is. I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I went natural at 19 yrs old. It was a type of rebellion. With my short afro, I got more compliments than I ever did with bone strait shoulder legnth hair.
