Where do you live?
A: Long Beach! I was born in Inglewood but LBC is my home! I work for a chamber of commerce, it’s mainly clerical/office related work but I get to help coordinate events and meet a lot of people.
Why did you make the decision to go natural?
A: I finally saw the damage I’d done to my hair over a few years time and decided enough with it, lol. I only got a perm once towards the end of jr. high and the begginning of high school. The permed hair grew out and broke off over time but I colored it and fried it to death! I decided to cut off the colored, stringy pieces and cut until I had a little curly fro.
Going natural has made me more bold and more noticeable I think. I get more stares and looks now than I did before. I don’t mind it though, I just smile!
How would you describe your hair?
A: I see my hair as 4a, it’s extremely thick but the strands seem to be a bit fine. It likes creamy, water based moisturizers and light oils the best.
What’s your regimen?
A: I wash with NjoiCreationS Apple Cider Vinegar poo bar, follow up with Yes to Carrots conditioner for detangling, and use Giovanni Leave in or Knot Today as my leave in. Then I’ll twist/braid my hair and seal in the moisture with coconut oil. I usually have my hair secured in a bun or in flexi rod rollers. I keep it simple and it works!
What mistakes have you made with your hair that you’ve learned from?
A: I’ve suffered from a little heat damage from blowdrying and I’ve noticed thinning after using bobby pins too often in the same place. I learned that my hair doesn’t seem to mix well with protein.
What’s the best/most effective thing you do for your hair?
A: The deep conditioning treatments, they really help with shine and softness!
Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
A: Yep! On youtube.com/curlychronicles, youtube.com/yammyu and on twitter @curlychronicles

Autumn’s videos were the first I watched on YouTube when I started transitioning almost two years ago. She’s just great!
Beautiful!
