When did you and your husband meet?
We met 10 years ago at the mall in a shoe store that my now husband was working in. I saw him from a distance outside of the store and a friend dared me to go and and talk to him. I acted like I wanted to buy shoes and kept asking him questions. We flirted back and forth for a while. Finally he asked me for my number. He called me that evening and we talked for a while. Later that night he started cleaning up and accidentally threw my number in the trash. When he realized the paper that it was written on was missing he dug in the trash and found it! And we’ve been together ever since.

We got married August 6, 2011, at the A and M Gardens in Azle, Texas. It is a gorgeous facility that features large garden grounds! It was the perfect backdrop to our vintage styled, peacock inspired wedding.

How was your big day?
AWESOME! The happiest day of my life. Marrying the love of my life among the people who love us the most! I wouldn’t change a thing.

How did you wear your hair?
*sigh* There were hair difficulties. A few bad hair days of trial resulted in my wedding day style which is what I describe as a natural twist updo that morphs in into a twist out. I also colored my hair for a pop of color.

What was your process of deciding how to style your hair?
Tragedy…trail…and error. We tried several styles days before the wedding but nothing was working right. At the last minute (literally right before I walked down the aisle) my hair came together and it was perfect for the 100 degree heat we were facing in our outdoor ceremony.

How did your family/husband/guests receive your hair at the wedding?
They loved it! Everyone has been very supportive of my natural hair and my husband is natural as well. : )

  1. Wow you are gorgeous, and all of the pictures came out gorgeous. Love the hairstyle that you chose it really fit your face. The hubby did good on the wedding ring that’s real nice :).

    • ETA: Oh I just noticed while looking that your hubby has naturally curly hair as well. Ahhhh so I definitely know that since both of you have natural hair, that the kids will as well. Such a beautiful couple congrats on the wedding.

  2. What a gorgeous bride and beautiful wedding. Everything was stunning. I am dying over her dress though! Is there any way we can find out the specs on it?

  3. Amazing pictures. I love the colors of the bridal party. Very chic, and sophisticated. You look stunning! Is your dress designed by Monique Lhuillier? I tried on one of her dresses but decided on a different designer. If I could have had a day two of my wedding I would definitely be wearing Monique Lhuillier, lol! Congratulations!

  4. THANKS! FOR ALL THE LOVE! It was truly a blessed day (and may i add still talked about)! BIG ups to Takiyah (the best photographer on EARTH!!!) for submitting the pics. To those that loved the dress and veil…I am selling both! Size 8. Hit me a @ for any questions.
