In my opinion, browsing through this article, coupled with having looked through my parents old photos from back in the day, the natural “fad” of the sixties and seventies remained just so probably because of the lack of creativity when it came to styling. The general consensus seemed to have been ‘the fro is the thing’, and that was it. Nowadays we have more styling options, thanks to advances in technology that enable us to share with others, express creativity, and inspire our own experimentation. This time around, we’re learning a whole lot more about our hair [namely how to be healthy as a whole, as becoming natural increases our awareness of many other aspects of our bodies] besides just how to use a pick and how to blow out a ‘fro. But again, this is just my opinion.
