Introduce yourself!
L: I’m Gabrielle aka Strawberricurls, from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Why did you make the decision to go natural?
L: I was bored with straight hair everyday and needed a change.
How would you describe your texture?
L: My hair is 3c/4a. I don’t really get into hair typing because it’s not really my thing. Lol. My hair is really dense and the crown of it is coarser and tighter than the rest of my hair.
Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
L: I usually keep my hair styling to a minimum. When I get slack with my hair I start to wet bun a lot, i.e. co-wash, bun and just finger detangle. I wear mini twists for about 4 – 6 weeks when I want to give my hair a break. I have been trying not to wear it out as much.
My staple products are Naturalista Cosmetics Juicy Leave-In and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie for styling. My staple moisturizer is Oyin Handmade’s Hair Dew and my sealants are coconut oil, olive oil and shea butter. Staple protein treatments are Megatek and Aphogee 2 Step Treatment and Silk Elements Megasilk Moisturizing Treatment for deep conditioning.
What does wash day look like for you?
L: Lol my wash days are the longest. I try to do a full scale pampering 2x a month which includes a co wash or clarify (I only clarify once a month), protein treatment for 30 minutes, deep conditioning with my hair steamer for 30 minutes, leave-in conditioner, seal in the moisture, then style as I see fit.
Describe your favorite go-to hairstyle for days when you don’t have a lot of time to style?
L: My go to style when I don’t have tons of time is a bun. It took me a while to learn how to do it, but I have it down pat now. I just moisturize and seal my ends, put it up and go.
How do you combat shrinkage?
L: I air dry my hair in a high tight bun and then style after a couple of days. It’s stretched out quite nicely once I take it down.
What are some of your problem areas (if any) that require extra care and attention?
L: My crown. It’s always the driest part of my hair as well as the tightest. It never fails to take me through the ringer when I’m trying to do my hair. My scalp is also the most sensitive in that area. Seems to be a trait all the women on my mom’s side of the family share.
What are 2 do’s for your texture?
L: Wash and goes are fun! They are nice and loose, so do wear those from time to time. Also, don’t be afraid to experiment with styling creams and different non-alcohol gels.
What are 2 don’ts for your texture?
L: Don’t constantly flat iron and use heat. It’s already pretty loose, and constant heat will only loosen it up more. You also don’t have to use a comb all the time. Finger detangle your hair for awhile. The texture can take it without becoming a tangled mess.

Love your styles! Very pretty hair! May I ask, how do you take care of your mini twists? Like what do you do to keep them moisturized?
Thanks! I just spray them with Naturalista Cosmetics PHD Spray and their aloe flax gel at night. I oil my scalp 2x a week and use dry shampoo. They usually last 4 – 6 weeks

As for the featured natural, lovely hair. How in the world do ladies keep the tiny twists from ruining their hair (knotting up, breakage, etc)?
