Introduce yourself!
Y:
Yaa is my name. I live in Brooklyn, New York (My new home). I work in technology on the product end of things.

What is your style philosophy?
Y:
To be honest I always want to be comfortable, and I want to feel confident walking out the door. This holds the core of my style philosophy. Confidence above all else.

How would you describe your sense of style?
Y:
Eclectic and undefined. I have really learned my body over the past few years and I mostly wear garments that flatter my body structure. There are so many trend styles that I think are great, but I also know that they will not work for me. Some people think I can wear anything, but that is not true. I think once you understand that, you can really tailor the look and feel that makes you unique and smashing.

What is the process of deciding what to wear in the morning?
Y:
I wish I had a process. I just wake up, go to my closet and pick out something. I go with my mood. Sometimes I will wear all black for two days. At times I will wear bright colors for a whole week. It all depends on how I feel. I guess my style is very intrinsic to my mood, which makes sense as I am a Virgo.

What are the three favorite things in your closet?
Y:
This is a difficult one. I don’t really get attached to items of clothing anymore, so I could wear sneakers on the weekends for a few weeks and that could be my favorite piece. At the moment, I would say I love wearing these silver rings that I have had in my things for years now, but I just rediscovered them. They are four rings that I have been wearing together and one has turquoise in it. Another would be my thrifted leather jacked with suede appliqué that I bought during the fall of last year. Lastly, I love these 7 For All Mankind high heeled shoes that I just purchased. I do not normally wear heeled shoes, so when I find one that is comfortable, I run for the wallet :)

What are some of your favorite shops/websites for clothes, shoes and accessories?
Y:
Asos.com for a lot of dresses and unique leotards. Shoes I normally go to Macy’s or Lord and Taylor. I buy my accessories online and in terms of jewelry I get inspired by what I see on Instagram a lot. I have lots of jewelry, but I am not someone who wears them at all.

How long have you been natural?
Y:
I have been natural most of my life. At this point I believe for about 21 years.

How and why did you transition into natural hair?
Y:
It was not a conscious decision. I just didn’t want my scalp being sore anymore from relaxers as a child.

What is your signature hairstyle?
Y:
I guess my tapered cut with the highlights.

Describe your styling regimen over the course of the month.
Y:
For the past two months I have been wearing marley twists as a protective style. Since I have had somewhat of a tapered cut I usually wear my hair in a very easy to manage manner. I sleep in twists almost every night with a scarf and I undo the twists in the morning. Sometimes I will lightly comb out my hair for a big hair look, however I do not comb it out completely because I still want the twist out definition. I mostly use Shea Moisture products (Moisture Retention Shampoo, Conditioner and the Curl and Style Milk). Over the past week or two I have been using Ouidad’s “Curl Recovery” line, which I received for free at an event. It’s pretty good, but I love my Shea Moisture products. Not to forget I sometimes use Kinky Curly Knot Today if I want really defined twist outs.

Whenever I take a look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine however when opening in I.E., it has some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other than that, excellent blog!
