Culottes are a fashion trend that most have probably forgotten. At its height, people went crazy for the loose fitting pants that resembled a skirt when not in motion. They were breezy, comfortable and looked great on just about every shape. But the trend didn’t really carry over into the 2000s… until a few years ago. However, everything comes back in style eventually (hello bell bottoms!) and we found 15 black fashion bloggers who are re-introducing the world to the culotte.

Business in the front, party in the back.

Cute. I like the first picture.

Learn something new everyday. I purchased 2 and was not aware of the name. Good to know.

Here’s a geezer insight to provide historical perspective. If culottes are coming back, they ain’t these hijab-style garments. The originals were above the knee.

AnonyChick

Not a fan of this trend, but looks good on some of the ladies.

Not all of these qualify as culottes. Culottes usually hit somewhere around the bottom of the calf. The ones that are long enough to cover the feet are palazzo pants, which were also trendy in the 70s. As for the ones in between…I don’t know what you’d call those…

These women look incredible. I am so inspired. I wish I could find or sew clothes like this.

Nice photos and great idea but some of these young women need to learn how to hem a pair of pants. Some of those pants were dragging on the ground. Heming a pair of pants may be a bit time consuming but you look a lot more polished and the fabric isn’t dragging on the ground and being frayed and torn. If you don’t want to do it establish a relationship with a good neighborhood tailor or dry cleaner.

I think the unpolished look is part of the trend today.
