Offlinehello everyone, so I'm new with the whole taking care of my natural hair but i haven't had a relaxer in almost two years and i have been using wigs so I wouldn't have to style my hair. I'm trying to do new regimens for my hair but I don't have time to do the regimens i found here on this site. I normally get home around 1- 2 o'clock in the morning, and I'm too tired to twist or braid my hair in sections for the next day and I don't like protective styles or afros and to add to the frustration, I don't want to spend most of my money on products for my hair. Is there anyone who can give me advice on my situation, I would greatly appreciate it.

Offlinewhen you say you don't like protective styles does that include senagalese twists? @adamsbywolfe putting those in gave me a solid two months where I did minimal maintenance (just spritzing and moisturizing my scalp occasionally. It took several hours to do but I gained a lot of time to do other things.

OfflineTo be honest you don't need much for your hair no matter the texture. Oils, and a cream or butter product for the LOC method. And if you want you can use your conditioner as the 'C' in the LOC method as well. So just two products, so you can cowash and moisturize. Other products will be frivolous, for a lack of better word. I know alot of naturals like Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner which is 6 bucks for 32 OZ where I work (Walgreens). I also agree with the above post. Put in a long term protective style if you cannot style everyday. Yarn Braids, Marley Braids, and Senagalese Twist. These styles usually take 8-10 hours to install (you can definitely do them yourself) and they last 2+ months while oiling and washing your scalp. That's 8 hours every 2 months, you'll have to get them redone 6 times at most every year. Anyway HTH!

Offline@adamsbywolfe ….I think the answer to your question will be based on what you want to do to your hair. If you want to grow it out with being fully natural as the end result, I would say to try to find low maintenance styles that minimize the amount of time you have to spend doing your hair. You can do this until you want to cut off the relaxed ends. If you just want to keep your hair healthy and cute, I would suggest saving the washing for when you have a day off that way you are well rested before trying to tackle your hair. I know you said you hate protective styling but I do think that that is the easiest way to keep your hair looking good without having to spend too much time doing it. Give us a little bit more detail on what you want to do and then we can offer more tailored advice.

OfflineI wanna be able to wear my hair cute everyday but with the protective styles there seems to be alot of braiding and twisting and I'm really bad at braiding and twisting my own hair and I can't go to a salon to get it done because I'm on a budget, I'm not really interested in growing my hair any longer or having it be an afro everyday. I feel like I'm at a lost with this, all I want is to wear my hair naturally without too much hassle in the morning because I just don't have the time

Offline@adamsbywolfe …..I really do think that protective styling is the best way to get all the things you want. You don't have to do twists and braids to do protective styles. You can do up-dos and other really cute styles that can last up to a week or more at a time. The ladies over on the Protect Ya Ends Challenge forum page have been sharing some fantastic up-do protective styles so I say check them out and see what you like. They even share how they do the styles. YouTube is also a great resource in terms of finding great, easy to do styles Hope that helps.
