Offline@MwiwiVeevee ok so I see you want to bleach your hair! Take my advice and dont do it! Bleach will soooo kill your hair even though there are no chemicals on it! Bleaching your hair is almost like perming your hair! I bleached my hair when I was wearing platinum blonde hair and it changed my texture, and my curl pattern. My hair is slowly growing back to its normal color even though I died it all one color back in November I believe! The bleach will kill your hair! If anyone is reading this I would prefer you use developer and the color than bleaching your hair!

OfflineHello Ladies,
So I am still unsure what I am going to do with my hair this week. I am contemplating either two strand twists or flat twists into a bun. Presently, my ends are just pulled back and tucked away under a bonnet and hat.
So, this week was my wash week and I am proud to say that I have finally found a wonderful shampoo regime. I wash my hair biweekly. Prior to washing, I prepoo with oils(any oils will do). This is phenomenal for detangling my hair and keeping it moisturized. I leave the oils in under a shower cap over night(30 min-1 hour would do). I then wash my hair with baking soda and glycerin. Ladies…my hair feels AWESOME, both during and after the process and my curls are popping. I think I have type 3 hair, as they are pretty tightly coiled. Ne who, I just wanted to share my success story! Have a wonderful week.

Offline@mommynaptural_hawkes : your bc looks so nice! You are rockin' that style
@Caribbeancurl : I love your valentines day hair style. That is so creative! How did you do the heart like that in the back
@CANDACEBRIONNE : If your hair grows at average pace and you retain all of your length you have the potential to retain about 1 1/2 inches of hair by the end of the challenge so wherever that would put you… I'm short so I know 1 1/2 inches is different on everyone…. I'm not sure if your asking me how my hair looks so poofy in the style or how I get my hair to stretch in twists? If it's about the style I can't really answer because it just did what it did but to get my hair as stretched as possible for twists I dry my hair in two buns for the day after I wash it, then I divide it up into about 12 braids to sleep in. The next morning I twist it up using naptural 85's method minus the water and with more sections. I try to wear it in buns during the week to keep the stretch. I hope that helped a bit…
Week 2 Update!
Last week was a pretty good hair week! My hair was unusually cooperative :) And my ends continue to benefit from moisturizing them before I put them up in any style. This week I learned that my scalp does not like being 'greased' or 'oiled' or anything. Itch city! If I want to get that under control I need to drink waaaaaaaaay more water and lay off the sweets a bit. Sunday I trimmed my ends so I have an extra new beginning now <3 This week I seem to have caught a cold so I'm just gonna take it easy and keep my twists in french braids and buns.
Here's my second favorite style from last week:

OfflineHowdy!
I will admit that I have been lagging a bit on haircare lately. I turned 25 last weekend and my little sister turned 16 this weekend so I've been busy with party planning and prep.
I still have my hair in Senagalese twists with extension hair. I'm thinking I may want to do box braids next. Anyone have any tips for how to do them? I never have before.

Offline@Naturallyfree I look forward to seeing it on you :)
I love that it looks different depending on the length of your hair or how stretched/ textured it is.
Week 2:
My hair this week has been in twists, but i thought i was going swimming so i took them out and put them in like 6 cotton threat twists (i don't know what else to call them) And they are still currently in that style now.
I haven't washed my hair in a while so I think when i take them out over the weekend, I will be doing a bentonite clay treatment!
Hope everyone has had a good week :D
(I know we're in the middle of week 3 now :') )

OfflineI'm a little behind was very busy last week…so here's my update for last week and this week. Deep conditioned on DRY hair using (aohr, veg glycerin, honey, castor oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil and aloe Vera juice) let that marinate(yes I said marinate lol) on my head for about 2 hours then rinsed with cool water. padded my leave in (natty butter) and sealed with natty butter. For last week I did a bun so I twisted the front so there's not a lot of tension on my edges then did 4 jumbo twist goin down the back to stretch my hair. The next morn undo the twist and put in sock bun. Every night i took bun down remoisturized and did the big twist down back to keep stretched and in morning binned again. For this week I did the same
dc and moisturizer method then twisted my hair and tucked it. Nothing fancy either week. I leave my styles for a week then undo and the process starts over. Only shampoo wash once a month. Idk if y'all can tell but my edges r really thin… What can I do? 1st pic last week 2nd pic this week

When it's all twisted I use water, aloe Vera juice, castor and coconut oil and spray my hair morning and night

Natural Beauty, this is gorgeous. Who said flat twist can be hot!.
Checking in for week 2, I hope it's okay but I am leaving my hair out for 1 day then will do a flat twist style for the week. I just had to remove the threads from hair, they were beginning to look super duper funkay.
I did a thorough wash for the first time in weeks and boy did it feel good. ![]()

OfflineHey guys! Im here to give an update and a length check picture from 02.08.2013 (I know its late.. but its better than than never!). So yesterday I did a heavy coconut oiling on my hair and so far its been 1 1/2 weeks since I had my "dookie braids" installed. They are becoming really fuzzy so I might re-install at the 3 week mark , who knows or I might just do the perimeter this week :)
Attached is a photo of my hair length at the very front on 02.08.2013. I will be posting two more updates one on 03.08.2013 and 04.31.2013.
Please excuse the face. :/.

Offline@CANDACEBRIONNE : Sew-ins and braids are awesome for length fix. I get all antsy too but then I put some extensions in and it helps 'scratch the itch' so to speak. Actually, I put the blonde in to keep myself from straightening my hair or shaving my head. I get bored too easily and although I definitely took some damage to my curl pattern it helped prevent some greater damage… :P
@Natural_Beauty : I love your flat twist updo! Might have to bust that one out next week…

OfflineHey! I'm just checking in. I haven't posted pics and so it's cool if I'm not the winner, just wanted to be a part of the challenge. I've been doing protective styling for a while now, but not this…intensely haha. Here is my protective style pic. A double stranded twist bun. Hope everyone is enjoying the past couple weeks! :)

Offline@NaturalBeauty I love your hairstyles, both of them! For the thin edges there is this stuff called fermodyl by ROUX…(pic posted) pretty much whenever you moisturize or condition your hair you put it in your hair. Its a leave in strengthening condition…Or you can use follicure but I chose fermodyl over follicure. You can get the product from either sallys idk what city or state you live in so I cant say go to the beauty supply because Im not sure if they sell it in your local beauty supply but you can always try, but sallys I know for sure has it. You can use it whenver you want but I would prefer you use it quite frequently so your hair can start growing, also try not to pull your hair back so tight that could be causing tension with the edges as well. (if that makes sense)…Other than that you have beautiful hair!
